History of Gain Feeds

Glanbia plc is the result of a merger between Waterford Foods and Avonmore, formerly Waterford Co-Op and Avonmore Co-Op respectively. Glanbia plc has a long and distinguished history in the animal feed business. For many years prior to the merger, Waterford Co-Op was selling feed under the Gain^® brand and Avonmore Co-Op was selling feed under the Welfed brand. Following the merger, a decision was made to put all the feed manufactured by Waterford and Avonmore under the more established and successful Gain^® brand, and so in 1998, the Gain Feeds brand extended to all Glanbia feeds. Gain Feeds was then the biggest volume feed brand in Ireland and continues to be so to this day.

Gain Pet Food consisted of Gain Complete and Gain Crunchy for many years and these products are still extremely popular with dog owners of all breeds throughout Ireland, revitalised by the introduction of new packaging in 2009. In 2006 Gain Pet Food added to the range for All Dog Breeds, with the introduction of Gain Junior, Gain Adult, Gain Muesli and Gain Active. At that time Gain^® also launched Gain Cat Food and a range of 400g cans for dogs and cats.

The Gain BigDogs range was launched in 2009 and it is specifically formulated for dogs weighing over 20kg. Gain Feeds specialises in the nutrition of big animals, such as horses, greyhounds, cattle, sheep and pigs etc. Using Glanbia's extensive experience in nutritional ingredients, together with worldwide research into the nutrition of larger dogs, Gain^® developed their unique BigDogs range of diets, which includes BigDogs Puppy, BigDogs Adult and BigDogs Senior.

Gain Pet Food has three distinct ranges of diets, for Large Dog Breeds, All Dog Breeds and All Cat Breeds, providing a total nutrition offer for all dog and cat owners.
